Ministry Associate

Becky Ficarella (formerly Becky Derrico) has roots in Grace Lutheran Church that go back to her childhood.
"As an elementary student I began my Faith Formation journey in Sunday School, but really felt my faith grow during my Confirmation and High School journey at Grace Lutheran Church. I was involved in the youth programming offered at Grace, attending confirmation retreats and events, as well as high school wilderness retreats to ELCA's Sky Ranch Retreat Center in Colorado. I also had the opportunity to attend the ELCA Youth Gathering in Atlanta, GA in 1994. As a Glenbard West student (class of 1996), I was involved in Marching Band and Theater, and enjoyed participation in other groups such as One Voice Outreach Choir and Young Life. I went on to earn my Associates Degree at College of DuPage, and then my Bachelor's Degree in Music and English at Lake Forest College in Lake Forest IL.
I have been blessed with a long and exciting career in both retail and operations management. Starbucks Coffee, CVS Caremark, and Whole Foods Market are just some of the organizations I have been fortunate to work for. My husband Mario and I were blessed with a son in 2012, and since then I have tried to find balance in my work and family life. I earned a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Certification in 2014 and briefly taught Children's and Teen yoga. My employment with Grace began in January 2015, where I have happily served this community in a number of ways.
In 2018, I was certified as a Holistic Birth Doula, and in 2019 I was certified as a Holistic Postpartum Doula. I believe in the loving, nurturing support of women transitioning into Motherhood, as well as support for their partner's and family. Bottom line, I am passionate about people and I love the opportunity to support life transformation, whether through birth, age, or spiritual transformation through music, faith formation, and prayer.
I am so happy to offer programming and coordination of faith formation for children from birth through high school and their family. I feel very fortunate to be working for the church where my own faith formation journey began.
My husband Mario and I enjoy hiking, singing, working in our yard, yoga, meditation, and spending time with our extended families."
