Parish Counselor

I have been the Parish Counselor at Grace for 29 years. I studied sociology and psychology as an undergraduate at Wartburg College and Elmhurst College. After working as a legal secretary and raising a family, I made the decision to pursue the vocation which had been calling me all along – counseling. I graduated from Benedictine University in 1987 and began working in the adoption field (with adoptive parents, birthparents and adoptees) as well as part-time at Grace. In 2000, I committed myself fully to my private practice.
I look upon my work as a ministry. Thanks to the generosity of the church in giving me office space, I have been able to see clients from the congregation and the community on a sliding-scale fee basis when insurance was not available for any reason.
It is an honor to be allowed to become a part of a person’s life journey at a time in his/her life when there is more pain than one can bear alone. My work has been a blessing to me and hopefully to the clients whom I have been privileged to serve.
